As a small, family run vineyard, Como Villa Estate wine is produced in a true boutique style. We use minimal sprays and all of our grapes are hand-picked and bottled locally at Alexandra Vintners Ltd, by winemaker Antony Worch.
We first purchased the property in 1982 operating it as a deer farm and orchard. The old stone house had always stood on the property and was used as a workshop and implement shed. One day when working on the tractor, a wheel collapsed into a hole behind the stone house – this was when we discovered an old wine cellar built by the original owner Thomas Oliver.
With Alexandra quickly becoming recognised as an ideal climate for growing grapes, we decided it was time for a new challenge and began planting grapevines.
The first vintage produced under the Como Villa Estate label was a Pinot Noir in 2006. We entered it into the Bragato Wine Awards in 2008 and were successful in achieving a bronze medal. Since then we have expanded into other varieties and offer a range of red and white wines.
